Travelling Alone

Attracted by the book title at first glance.  "I'm travelling alone" by Samuel Bjork ...... definitely fitted in the mood and feel when travelling, though it get nothing to do with the travelling that I was talking out.
A six-year-old girl is found in the Norwegian countryside, hanging lifeless from a tree with a jump rope around her neck. She is dressed in strange doll's clothes. Around her neck is an airline tag that says "I'm traveling alone."

A special homicide unit in Oslo re-opens with veteran police investigator Holger Munch at the helm. Holger's first step is to persuade the brilliant but haunted investigator Mia Krüger to come back to the squad--she's been living on an isolated island, overcome by memories of her past. When Mia views a photograph of the crime scene and spots the number "1" carved into the dead girl's fingernail, she knows this is only the beginning. She'll soon discover that six years earlier, an infant girl was abducted from a nearby maternity ward. The baby was never found. Could this new killer have something to do with the missing child, or with the reclusive Christian sect hidden in the nearby woods?

In short chapters, a whole heap of characters was introduced in their own perspective, whereby seemingly unrelated things happened in similar timeframe but different places.  Of course, I knew  they were connected but not sure how-so only till the last couple of chapters before the big reveal.  Brilliant.

My final book of 2016!

Of course, bought some books as well.

Staycation Day 2

Slept till naturally waking up in midday ^_^!!!

Lunch at the famed char siew roast pork stall at the corner of Keong Saik Road.  Not bad.

Banana Tree - Pretty Flower Korean Café

Dessert time! We ordered Oreo Bomb, Flower Pot Bingsu & mini Expresso pudding.

Slowly we strolled back to hotel ......

Dinner at the popular Tiong Shian Porridge Centre 長城粥品.

Staycation Day 1 - Boxing Day

Due to serious air pollution in China, I had cancelled my initial travel plan to Beijing and went for a 3D2N staycation in Chinatown with my family instead.

On the way to our little escapes .....

As our room at Dorsett SG wasn't ready yet, we went to The Reading Room nearby to enjoy some finger foods and drinks for an hour.

Checked in around 3:30pm.  Love the colourful camera doorbell which has LED flashes that go off when the the shutter button is pressed.

Our late dinner was at Pappasan Restaurant in the hotel lobby.

Of course, I made sure to enjoy a few glasses of cocktails.

At Last.  Bought a panasonic LUMIX compact camera after contemplating for so many years.  Due to conveniency, I have been using light-weight smartphones (Samsung or iPhone) and quite happy with the results, only when I want wide-angle or zoom-in close up or better night scene.  Hopefully my usage justifies the purchase.

Xmas Xmas

A sumptuous indulgence on Christmas eve at Itacho.  There were clam miso soup, lobster & mango salad roll, wagyu beef roll. roasted foie gras, soft-shell crab, and many more.

Raining outside. Dinner is this pork rib noodle.....
Where is the turkey, ham and log cake?
Well, shall be grateful to have food served on the table.
