Have been struggling on and off with this book the past two weeks. Almost two third of my way through, I don't really enjoy it, not even sure I understand it. Got to give it up for now ..... just can't continue.
The Story
Set in Auschwitz, it tells the story of a Nazi officer who has become enamored with the concentration camp commandant's wife. The story is conveyed by three narrators: Angelus Thomsen, the Nazi officer and nephew to Martin Bormann whose hobby is seducing women; Paul Doll, the commandant; and Szmul Zacharias, the leader of a work gang of Jews who have to search and dispose of the bodies of people murdered in the gas chambers.
