Shahcheragh Holy ShrineShāh Chérāgh (Persian: شاه چراغ) is a funerary monument and mosque in Shiraz, Iran, housing the tomb of the brothers Ahmad and Muhammad, sons of Mūsā al-Kādhim and brothers of ‘Alī ar-Ridhā. The two took refuge in the city during the Abbasid persecution of Shia Muslims.
We arrived at the shrine and were advised we had to wait with another girl for an official guide/docent. When he arrived, he provided us with chadors and took us through the security. No bag and 'stand-alone' camera allowed, but you are allowed to take pictures with your phone.
Called it luck. We unknowingly went in the praying room as our guide was missing halfway through the tour. We only found out that tourists are not allowed inside on our 2nd visit the next day. But but but .... . we were not even stopped by anyone there.
The jaw-dropping interior of this structure has millions of tiny mirror shards which bounce the light in every direction. So breathtaking.
