The Escape by David Baldacci

A page-turner indeed. Finished it within 5 nights, starting pretty late till the wee hours of 4 am every single night. circled around military, spy, nuclear weaponry and cyber-security. A lot of twists and turns.

Some passages I'd like to jot down :

In fact, somethings always leads to something else.
And somethings always leads to something else.
And because something always leads to something else.
(Simple truth, and it can't slip out your mind by keep repeatedly saying it)

"O-kay," she said slowly, skepticism oozing from both syllables.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm still here. I'm just taking a minute to pull my head out of my ass for even contemplating helping you."

"That's a lot to ask for." "Well, if you don't ask, you sure as hell won't have a chance of receiving."

"Two arms with hands attached, though two fingers on your left hand are broken, hence the splints. You have two legs with feet attached. One head with brain intact, though concussed. And a lot of superficial cuts to your scalp, arms, and legs, hence the bandages. And enough blood loss that they had to give you a replacement bag."

hunky–dory (free of trouble or problems)

Why not humpty dumpty ? 😝

Misc

The men at the office like to cook apparently.
Almost every Friday there is such makan session at the happy garden behind.  Today's special is Thai basil pork, served on top of rice and a fried egg.  Tasty and spicy.

SG51 Vs Pokémon Go

Yesterday, 9 August, was Singapore 51st Birthday.

The sky was so bright blue, absolutely a perfect weather for the celebration.

As me and my incredible had already watched the NDP preview two weeks ago, we decided to hit Orchard Road for Pokemon hunt as well as book hunt at Kinokuniya @ Takashimaya, which was having storewide 20% discount to celebrate SG51.

We are not the only Pokemon trainers 😁.

Tons of people are on their phones.
Tons of them gathering around the PokéStops.
Tons of incense were used to lure nearby critters.

You can imagine.

As if he has booked the whole cinema to himself to celebrate ^^

Final stop was to catch a Japanese movie 'Erased' (僕だけがいない街) at Filmgarde in Bugis+.

#Egg #Farmart

Farm Day

Well, a rare occasion indeed.  Someone happened to suggest it, and the rest simply agreed since we got nothing better to do for a Sunday outing other than eat and eat.

1st stop is Farmart Centre at Sungei Tengah Road.
Monkey no durian.

After lunch and a relax scroll, we headed to the nearby Qian Hu Fish Farm, the largest ornamental fish importer and exporter in Singapore.

I am strong and mighty. Ho Ho Ho!  😁

Besides looking at the cute fishes, we also enjoyed the fish spa there.  Only $10 for half an hour, towels and slippers are provided as well.  Isn't it great ?

We made a stop at Orchidville afterwards, but may be we were late, there was nothing much to see. After much discussion, we decided to go to Bottle Tree Park (ORTO) to have an early dinner. The bird event was a surprise.

Dinner at Taste Garden.

1st night of the hungry ghost month

It's just a coincidence.

Last night, in the mood of reading something light before sleep, I randomly picked this tiny hardback from the pile.  Only a second later then I saw the subtext in white 'and other ghost stories'.

Oh OK. Why not?

In the end, I have finished reading the four short ghost stories at one go.  A great read.

I especially like the first story - The Visitors Book.

Found these 2008 shots of my boy while searching my HDD for things. 😀😁
