Gum Dichromate (2nd Round)

Continued from Sunday .....

The exposure for 2nd coat is also 30 mins.

Developing process the same : each print 3 times (10 mins each) in warm water bath. This round I left them soaking after the 3rd bath for 10 hours to clear the gum residue.

I still need to use a soft brush to lightly brush away the gum residue in the bath before hanging them dry.



Will do the last coat tomorrow and hopefully no rain.

What I Saw While Sunprinting

Sunprinting : Cyanotype cum Gum Dichromate

Doing Cyanotype and Gum Dichromate at the same time.

For the Gum Dichromate prints, all are only 1st Yellow coat.

Gum Emulsion : a tiny bit of yellow pigment to 3ml of gum arabic and 3ml of Potassium Dichromate, which is enough to coat 3 A4 as shown.  Leave them to dry naturally with a fan for 35 mins.

Exposure is 30 mins. Developing the  prints were more tedious : following the instruction by Photographer's Formulary, each print 3 times (10 mins each) in water bath, but I soaked them for another 2 hours to clear the gum residue.

Compared with the tri-colour print I've made last week (8th round), the difference is the sequence of negatives used.  This one is M - Y - C whereas the previous one is Y - M - C.
Verdict : I prefer the result of Y - M - C, which the lion looks more defined.

Saw them cleaning the roof top of Bras Basah Mrt station yesterday on my way to collect some pre-ordered Gundam posters from InkInk.

If it's me,  my legs sure become jelly out there.



After watching Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative movie at GV Plaza separately at 3pm and 4pm (In order to collect the limited ed Movie Exclusive Sinanju and Phenex for my boy), we had our dinner at Nana before heading home.

Blessed with such beautiful sunset sky on our way home.

Time flies so fast. Before you know it, decoration for the coming CNY is already up.

18 Tai Seng (just outside Tai Seng MRT station) ..... Been a decade never really step foot in this place and it has morphed into a food heaven with many eatery house there. Feeling hungry.

Happy New Year!

1st day of the year ..... it is was a holiday thus continued with my pet project since it wasn't raining like the day before.

I was also glad that I'd finally received the gum dichromate printing kit after a month's wait. Can't wait to use it. Soon.

Besides printing, been bing-watching on Netflix : Travelers Season 3, You (a bookish psychological thriller television series by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble), Black Mirror S5 - Bandersnatch (an interactive film which is so mind-bending) and Bird Box.
