SIPF 2014

The 4th edition of Singapore International Photography Festival is here till 30 Nov 2014.

Besides exhibitions, there are many programmes like film screenings, workshops and talks at various places.

My 1st stop is to the Open Call Showcase at NMS which shows a broad range of subject and themes.

Following are just a few of them.

ALBINOS by Gustavo Lacerda from Brazil.

Albino is a person with pale skin, light hair, pinkish eyes, and visual abnormalities resulting from a hereditary inability to produce the pigment melanin.

"I have been researching the universe of albinos and trying to bring them before the camera, creating a new situation for those who have always been regarded as outcasts." ~ Gustavo

Shown below REPUBLIC OF PULAU SEMAKAU (A STORY ABOUT PEOPLE AND THEIR TRASH) are by Singapore artist Zinkie Aw.

The things we throw away tell much about who we are. Dustbins are, essentially, a part of one’s personal space, almost akin to a type of ‘identity autopsy’. Through photographs of trash and their environment, viewers are exposed to things owned and disowned by different people.
Below are FAMILY STUFF by HuangQingJun from China.
One can tell the living condition of these families by looking at their possessions.

My next stop will be Festival Village at DECK.
