For the time being, thanks to the designer of making all the images available in larger format (981x1600 pixels), I am content to print them out and wrap it on the original books.

Harry Potter Redesign
Oh Mind! Look at these redesigned The Harry Potter book covers by M.S. Corley. They are simply gorgeous and really do look like classic Penguin Books. Well-chosen imagery from each story. If these will eventually come out in prints or even better, in books, I will definitely want to buy them.

Books & Cigarettes
After two weeks of continuously hectic working hours, top up with over 60 sleepless hours, I finally got to relax , spent some quiet moment and had a sumptuous dinner with my "incredible" at Casual Poet last evening.
And you know what ? A book by George Orwell was simply lying on the table and waiting for me, I suppose. A gentle reminder to me .....don't work too hard and read more books. ^_^

Michelangelo. La Dotta Mano
Italian publisher Franco Maria Ricci has released a book created in honor of Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo depicting his life’s greatest works. The book’s cover features a reproduction of his Madonna della Scala fresco made of marble by artisans using the same techniques used by Michelangelo over five hundred years ago. The book contains detailed photographs of Michelangelo’s drawings and sculptures as well as an extensive history of his life and works. Weighing 62 pounds (about 21 kilograms ), only thirty three copies of the book will be made and available exclusively from Franco Maria Ricci. Each copy takes six months to make a by hand and comes with a 500-year warranty.
A Few days ago, a copy of thus far the world’s most expensive book, with a price tag of 100,000 euros (about 200,000 SGD), was donated to our President SR Nathan from San Marino 's Ambassador Andrea Griminelli, showing the value of arts and culture but also a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
The book will be on display in our National Library in the near future.

1st Day At Work
After a fairly long and fulfilling staycation (3 months, to be exact), I have started work today at a new organization.
Everything is fresh, interesting and indeed exhaustive ..... jobs keep on piling in without much time and any chance for me to familiarize with the workflows, the policies, and most importantly, my new colleagues as yet.
Nonetheless, I'm just happy to be back in full force. The mere drawback, I reckon, is that I will have lesser and lesser time for my reading ...... Alas!

Books:A Memoir
Despite having written almost 30 novels and being both a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and an Academy Award-winning screenwriter, Larry McMurtry has always considered himself a book collector above all.
In BOOKS: A MEMOIR, McMurtry writes about his endless passion for books: his adventures as an avid book man, from a boy growing up in a largely and unbelievably "bookless" world to one of America's most prominent bookmen with a private library of 28,000 books; and recounts with gentle humor the strange or eccentric characters and rich experiences he has encountered in his life of book-chasing (or should I call it book-scouting); and not forgetting, the books that have passed directly through his hands or through his store, Booked Up, which now occupies 6 buildings in Archer with nearly 400,000 used and rare books in stock. Whow! It's a long way to achieve this.
From the photos above, you can tell how vast is the collection. I wish I will have the chance to visit the bookstore in future, at least to pay my tribute to McMurtry.

Holiday.....
Just return from my book-shopping spree in Hong Kong few days ago, and am still busy for dunno what. Hopefully, I will be able to recommence my reading soon. Wish all of you a prosperous Chinese New Year !
