A new concept bookstore { prologue } with a 16,000 sq ft floor space was officially open on 21 Sep 2009 at level 4, ION Orchard (the hip shopping centre in town).
Under Popular Group, this book paradise apparently offers an extensive selection of English and Chinese books, professional reference and educational materials, graphic novels and thousands of local, regional and international magazines, and an entire upper level (5th floor) of trendy stationery and gift items imported from around the world. I've yet to visit the store, so can't really say much right now. Will come back with some photos soon.
Another Popular bookstore's latest venture is Unban Write. A trendy paper and craft lifestyle concept store that offers products such as art paper, scrapbook accessories, fancy stationery, greeting cards, gift sets, etc. at #06-01/02/03 Orchard Central. There is an outlet at Tampines 1 too.
On the other hand , this week is the last week of my beloved indie bookstore BooksActually at their brick cottage bookshop (the one with the triangle-shaped courtyard) at Ann Siang Road. The store will be taking root at No. 86 Club Street, together with its sister store, Polymath & Crust. Do trot down to say your goodbyes, record your stories of the brick cottage bookshop on film, polaroid, or in your notebooks before it is too late.
