Sembawang Heritage Trail

Another early Sunday morning walking trail.

This round I have signed myself and my boy since he is too free at home till next month.

A good day to explore the area. Blue sky, moon, sun, clouds.

Below map shows the walking trail. From Sembawang MRT station, we took bus 865 and alighted at Stop 58131 .Aft Assyafaah Mosque.

Walked towards HomeTeamNS, then to the main gate of Sembcorp Marine Admiratly Yard to take a look of the plaque that commemorates the handing over of the naval base from the British Admiralty to the Singapore government for a token sum of $1 On 1 December 1968. Afterwards we trailed  from Bermuda Road all the way to Masjid Petempatan Melayu Sembawang. There are many black and white houses along the way which are still pretty much in use to house military members and their families, thus no photography or video in certain sensitive areas. Most window blinds were drawn and I saw no activity whatsoever around, as if the houses were not occupied. But the telltale signs of some blinds with light shone through, the humming air-con compressors and the few cars parked down there told me otherwise. True enough, we saw three vehicles patrolling ..... one local police car, one military car (it followed our group for a while) and one auxiliary police car with car plate 'NZ5'.

The NZ Defence Support Unit (NZDSU) administers the Installation Auxiliary Police Forces (IAPF), consisting of warranted Singapore Police officers. These officers provide law enforcement on the Sembawang facility and the adjacent family housing area.
